The Sheridan varsity boys soccer team traveled to Greentown, Ind. to face Eastern High School this past week, and came home with the Hoosier Heartland Conference Championship.
Sheridan’s defenders challenged Eastern’s attack relentlessly, making it difficult for the Comets to get a clean look on goal. And when they did get a shot off, sophomore keeper Nick Roberts was there to record his fourth shutout of the season.
Then, at the eleven minute mark, sophomore Will Zachery’s direct kick found the bottom of the crossbar and the back of the net.
The score was 0-0 at halftime.
The Comets continued attacking all night with some 40 off shots and Blackhawk Sophomore Nick Roberts recorded 26 saves.
Junior Caleb Duke scored on a fast break at 4:19 to secure the lead of 2-0 over the Comets.
The Blackhawks play Monday at home against Irvington Prep at 5:30 p.m.
